On My Mind

Lucy is at the hospital having a couple of procedures done. Don't fret, it's really just cosmetic surgery: She is having her teeth cleaned, having a cyst removed from her belly, and a mole removed from her forehead. She's always had the mole and for all this time it's been a cute, Victoria Principal-like beauty mark. But then a month or so ago is suddenly started bleeding and then mysteriously grew to about three times its original size. So the vet and we agreed that it needs to go.

I hope that when I pick Lucy up, she looks like women did in the 1970s after plastic surgery and is wearing big sunglasses with a scarf tied under her neck. That would make my day. And since I've been told that this blog is best when there are photos of Lucy, here she is with Jay, from earlier this spring.

Speaking of Jay, he picks up new glasses tonight. They are way cute; trendy and artistic and yet retro and steampunk at the same time. He's going to look good.

As for me, I have a new obsession. I made the fatal mistake of going for a ride with a friend yesterday in a brand new one of these and realized that it, in the color they are calling "bitter chocolate," is absolutely the perfect car for me if ever there was such a thing. I have had my Galant for almost 10 years now and while it hasn't quite approached "tin can" stage, it is starting to show its age — never mind the fact that this is twice as long as I have ever owned a car in my life. And while I sure have enjoyed not having a car payment for these last five years, maybe it's time to think about giving up the Galant while it still has some trade-in value. And, at least according to Jodi after our talk last night, Lucy really wants to be riding in a Cube. I don't want to rush into an impetuous decision, but I might make Jay go test drive one with me tomorrow night after work to see what he thinks.

I hope Lucy is doing fine.

I love the back window on the Cube. And how can you not buy a car the color of bitter chocolate? But can I vote for the light gray interior? I think it will make Lucy pop more.

Poor Lucy - she's too young to start going in to have "work done" while calling it "having a mole removed."

The no-post thing makes a Cube very appealing.

Lucy doesn't want to ride in the car. She wants to drive it herself.

Wearing Jackie O sunglasses and a scarf, of course.

Whenever I see a car like that on the road, I think of a toaster on wheels. If you velcroed two styrofoam pieces of toast to the top, it would be perfect!

I'll be thinking of Lucy. I know it's not major work she's having done, but I get nervous when any of our kids are in the shop! I hope she feels good (felt good?) when she gets (got?) out!
